Snowball Music Festival Avon Colorado

The Avon Snowball Music Festival

will be back again this year, March 2-4, 2012!  Following the huge success of their inaugural 2011 event, fans are looking forward to more epic music, dancing, skiing, afterparties and other festivities.  The festival takes place e at the Harry A. Nottingham Lake in Avon, CO.  This is a great outdoor venue to see all of your favorite performers,  last year’s festival featured The Flaming Lips, Edward Sharpe, Bassnectar, and Pretty Lights and many, many more. Last year’s inaugural festival pulled in over 10,000 fans for the outdoor winter event. The festival included three stages and one of the most diverse line-ups in festival history. Snowball is one of the first winter themed music festival.  Enjoy tons of great music and awesome spring Skiing at Vail or Beaver Creek Ski Resorts.

Beaver Creek New Year's Eve 2012

For an incredible line-up of family friendly events spend the last night of 2011 at Beaver Creek.  Parades, Thursday Night Lights NYE edition, and the family carnival are events you will never forget
3:30pm-7:30pm

Winter Characters, Beaver Creek Plaza -Join the Snow Princess, Old Man Winter, Scurry and Snowflake as they lead the Kid’s Winter Wonder Parade, skate around the ice rink and delight the entire family with their appearances throughout the Beaver Creek Plaza.

4:00-7:30         Family FunFest, Beaver Creek Plaza-A village-style street-fair complete with music, games, food and fun!

4:00  pm          Kid’s winter Wonder Parade, starts at Covered Bridge-Each day kids can join the Snow Princess and Old Man Winter host a parade for the kids each day from the center of the Plaza to light the fountain.

4:00-5:30 pm   The Whiffenpoofs in concert (4:00 Plaza, 5:30 pm at McCoy’s)-the Whiffenpoofs of Yale University, the oldest a cappella group in the United States, will perform two concerts on Dec. 31. The first performance will take                    place at 4 p.m. on Beaver Creek Plaza, and the second at 5:30 p.m. at McCoy’s

5:15 pm            Registration begins for Thursday night Lights New Year’s Eve Edition

6:15 pm            Ski down Torchlight Parade-Be a part of the tradition as you ski down Beaver Creek Mountain illuminating the mountain with glow sticks. This event is intended for intermediate and advanced skiers.

6:45 pm            Village fireworks-Enjoy a spectacular fireworks display that lights up the entire Village

7:30 pm-1am   New Year’s Eve Family Carnival-Spend New Year’s Eve with the whole family – join us at McCoy’s for the New Year’s Eve Family Carnival featuring live entertainment, carnival games,  pool, foosball, arcade games, raffle prizes, adult beverages and children’s “mocktails” and more!  DJ Shannon Tanner will be spinning  tunes as well as local teen band “Awaken Annie” so everyone can dance the night away!   Celebrate the New Year from coast-to-coast with three balloon drops at 10:00, 11:00 & 12:00!  All ages are welcome – there’s something for everyone!  The party takes place at  McCoy’s – Gerald R. Ford Hall near the base of Centennial Express Lift in Beaver Creek

Vail New Years Eve 2012

Vail’s New Year’s Eve Celebration kicks off Saturday evening with the traditional family-friendly Torchlight Parade  down Vail Ski Mountain. Skiers and riders from Vail Ski and Snowboard School ski down Golden Peak illuminated with glow sticks, creating a trail of light that gracefully snakes down the mountain. The event is truly a fantastic spectacle that should not be missed,  Guests are invited to view the ski-parade from the base of Golden Peak. Immediately following the Torchlight Parade is a spectacular fireworks display that will light up the night sky over Vail Mountain. The Torchlight Parade and Fireworks are FREE and open to the public.

After the Torchlight Parade and Fireworks show, round up the whole family and head to Adventure Ridge via the Eagle Bahn Gondola for an evening of fun at the First Night Family Activities from 7-9 p.m.  This is a great place for kids and adults to have tons of fun. The gondola ride and select activities at Adventure Ridge are complimentary, and additional packages will be available for purchase that include discounted dinner and activities to keep the fun going throughout the evening. All children at First Night must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone.

For those looking for a more “Adult” way to ring in 2012, come celebrate the New Year in style. Vail’s Dobson Arena will be transformed into Club Dobson on New Year’s Eve, boasting the largest dance floor in Vail and the biggest party in town. DJ Logic, DJ Golden b and Ramona will be on hand spinning everyone’s favorite top 40, hip-hop and dance hits as well as the best from the 70s to the present.  This New Year’s party also includes a midnight Korbel champagne toast, balloon drop and confetti storm to ring in 2012.

Holiday Gift Making

Wrap, Saw, Hammer (a beginning jewelry-making course)

A fun workshop or series of workshops for adults and teens who are interested in making jewelry. Creative beginning techniques for making jewelry will be covered using a limited number of tools that can be safely used in the home. Students will leave class with a piece of jewelry and develop their skills to continue making jewelry forever.
