“The Art of Motion,” Art in Public Places, Vail Village
Thursday, August 25, dawn to dusk, free
The USA Pro Cycling Challenge is expected to be the largest spectator event in Colorado history and one of the largest sporting events to ever take place in the United States. For seven consecutive days, 128 of the world’s top athletes will race across 518 miles through the majestic Rockies. In celebration of the event, the Town of Vail’s Art in Public Places program displays a special exhibition this summer, “The Art of Motion.” It features painting, sculpture, and photography by Colorado artists celebrating the bicycle and can be enjoyed at your leisure as you walk around town. Also, meet the artists from “The Art of Motion” at the Town of Vail’s Art in Public Places tent at the USA ProCycling Expo on the roof level of the Vail Village parking structure on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Witness a live bike build by sculptor John Wenner, a painting demonstration by Dustin Zentz for which the work will be sold by silent auction, and purchase signed images from Todd Van Fleet’s vintage bicycle photo shoot in Vail. 50% of all proceeds will go towards future Art in Public Places programs.
