Lottery to run the Grand Canyon
Why not combine a Vail vacation and a trip further west to run the Grand Canyon? Then, you’ll be able to say that you’ve done it all. The beginning of 2012 will mark the final step in the National Parks Service’s change in awarding private launch dates. In the past five years we’ve seen a mixture of groups move through: folks who picked up dates in the new lottery system and those who had spent up to 20 years on the waiting list. The 2012 season will be the first year to have every private launch assigned by lottery. Our hope is that with the new system comes a greater opportunity for folks to experience a private river trip down the Grand Canyon. Although we’re sure that spring and fall launches will remain as popular as ever we’d like to remind you not to forget about those summer and winter trips too.
