Sleds and Art go together in Vail. Galleries will exhibit one artistic sled each: Claggett Rey Gallery, Cogswell Gallery, Masters Gallery, Pismo Gallery, Vail Fine Art Gallery, Vail International Gallery, Vail Village Arts, Worth Home, the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Museum and the Vail Public Library. From March 18 to 20 they will be exhibited collectively at Worth Interiors in Solaris.
Inspired by similar public art exhibitions, it is with great enthusiasm that Art in Public Places with support from Vail Resorts presents the First Invitational Art Sled Exhibition on view in Vail this winter season. Promoting art, sustainability, creativity, recreation, and community the wooden sleds that we have collected through generous donations will be recreated by local artists selected by the Art in Public Places Board. Highlighting local culture and other relevant themes, the sleds will be exhibited in various public locations throughout Vail and undoubtedly a vibrant addition to our winter season. The exhibition will culminate in a sale with a portion of the proceeds benefiting future Art in Public Places programs. For further information on the locations to view the sleds and about the sale, please contact meppard@vailgov.com or 970-479-2344.
