Vusi Mahlasela joins Amos Lee at VPAC concert in Beaver Creek February 3

VUSI MAHLASELA TO JOIN AMOS LEE AT THE VILAR CENTER ON FEBRUARY 3

VAIL, Colorado-South African singer/songwriter Vusi Mahlasela will join
Amos Lee on tour this winter. The tour kicks off in Seattle on January
20 and will include a stop at the Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC) in
Beaver Creek on Thursday, February 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Fusing folk, world, blues and soul music, Vusi Mahlasela
bridges generations and continents with a universal message of freedom
and the strength of the human spirit. Americans first caught a glimpse
of Vusi in the lauded documentary film “Amandla! A Revolution in
Four-Part Harmony,” and the accompanying soundtrack. After the release
of the film, long-time admirer and fellow South African, Dave Matthews,
signed Vusi to his own ATO Records label.
”Vusi has a sort of profound beauty about him. He has a light
on …and that’s something he would share with Bob Marley, Neil Young,
Marvin Gaye or Miles Davis,” said Dave Matthews.
Vusi’s anthem, “When You Come Back” was the official theme
song for the 2010 World Cup and was broadcast internationally to an
estimated one billion viewers during FIFA’s kick-off concert at Orlando
Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.
“I’ve seen him perform around the world and he never fails
to connect with sparkling results and joyous energy,” notes Blues
legend, Taj Mahal. “Vusi is quite possibly the warmest African artist to
be writing, singing and performing on the international music scene
today!”

Vusi will perform at the VPAC with Philadelphia-based
singer/songwriter, Amos Lee.  Since the release of his debut album “Amos
Lee” in 2005, Lee has become one of his generation’s most celebrated
songwriters.  After being named one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s “Top 10
Artists to Watch,” Lee has toured with such giants as Bob Dylan, Merle
Haggard, Paul Simon and Elvis Costello.
Lee’s latest album, “Mission Bell” will be released next
Tuesday. A free preview of the entire album is currently available
online through January 25 on MSN music’s website: www.music.msn.com
<http://www.music.msn.com/> .

Billboard Magazine raved that, “Mission Bell’ reflects the
themes of loss, redemption, and hope and Lee’s talents still ring true
on the album: soulful vocals and vivid, narrative-driven lyrics mixing
folk, pop, R&B, rock, gospel, blues and country influences.”

Tickets for Amos Lee with Vusi Mahlasela are $56 and are available
online at vilarpac.org, by phone at 888.920.ARTS(2787) or in person at
the Vilar Center box office in Beaver Creek.
