The benefit concerts for LIFT-UP continue Saturday night with free tram rides with the donation of at least one food item per rider
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 14, 2010) — Music on the Mountain continues this weekend at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park with Cottonwood Acoustic taking the stage on Saturday, Sept. 18. Guests will be able to ride the tram for free, up to a $12 value, with the donation of at least one food item — a can, a jar of peanut butter or a box of pasta — for LIFT-UP per rider, beginning at 4 p.m. The band will perform from 6 – 10 p.m.
“This is such a generous community,” said Steve Beckley, who owns Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park with his wife Jeanne. “We collected 630 cans last weekend during the Krossroadz concert, which brings the total so far to 2,914 cans of food for the LIFT-UP food pantry. If you think about how many families that will help, it’s just amazing.”
This week the Adventure Park welcomes Cottonwood Acoustic, a bluegrass quartet that showcases original songwriting with rich vocal blends. JD Blackmer (mandolin, singer-songwriter) a native of Vermont, was a founding member of Timberline and Three Left Feet and hosts the Sunday morning bluegrass show on Radio Free Minturn, 107.9 FM. Fred Jarman (guitar, singer-songwriter) a native of southwest Virginia, has been playing and singing bluegrass with various bluegrass groups in Colorado for 10 years. Steve Johnson (banjo, singer-songwriter) and Cash Cashman (bass, vocals) are longtime members of Aspen’s Flying Dogs Bluegrass Band, performing in various bluegrass festivals around Colorado.
The Missing Link Band, rock and R&B, will wrap up this year’s concert series on Sept. 25. The Glenwood Springs Post Independent, The Aspen Times and KSPN Radio have joined Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park as media partners for the series.
The Lookout Grille and the Snack Shack will be open for dinner and refreshments during the concerts, with $2.50 Coors Lights, $3 Coronas and glasses of wine, and $4 well drinks. Guests will not be allowed to bring food or alcohol into the park. The Adventure Park’s rides and attractions will be open from 10 a.m. to dusk. During the concerts, a Day Pass will cost just $27 with the free tram ride, and will include unlimited access to the Alpine Coaster, new Giant Canyon Swing, Ft.
