Latest news from the Vail Soul Music Festival to be held from August 20 to 22 is the announcement that the Funk Band DAZZ will perform. You can’t be a soul music fan or aficionado without having a little Dazz Band on your i-pod! Nor can you have a soul music festival without inviting “groove merchants” like The Dazz Band. The Dazz Band will bring their signature soulful sound to the Rocky Mountains on Saturday, August 21st. The Dazz Band’s group’s biggest hit songs include the Grammy Award-winning “Let It Whip” (1982), “Joystick” (1983), and the ultimate love song, “Heartbeat” (1984), to which many a romantic mood has been set. Described as “funk” masters and smooth soul vocalists of silk, The Dazz Band will bring their legendary roster of old and new, instantly recognizable brand of soul to the second night (Saturday, Aug. 21st at 7pm) of the musical festival, joining soul artist Dwele, hip-hop violinist Lee England Jr., and Denver’s Jonathan Bryant. Friday’s Soul Music Fest line-up includes Vail’s own T’Leon, Liv Warfield, Chrisette Michele and headliner Raphael Saadiq. Vail Soul Music Fest tickets are available at Eagle Valley Music, located in the West Vail Mall and Ford Amphitheater box office. Single Day ticket pricing starts at $35.00 pre-purchase or $45 day of the show. Complete festival details can be found online at vailsoulmusicfest.com.
