Ski Cooper was a lot of fun this past weekend. Saturday was sunny, Pedal Power’s annual Winter TriFest competition was great to watch at the Nordic Center. Roxanne and Ty’s homemade food was a pleaser as always, and then a half-day of skiing on those wide-open runs above Ski Cooper’s 10,000-foot base area. I was bowled over by the in-my-face view of Chicago Ridge right outside and up, up above the ski area boundary. It loomed beautifully against the brilliant blue sky. When we’d finished skiing and found that a bluegrass band was playing to a group of contented skiers. Nice atmosphere. Very relaxed. And you park right next to the snow at the bottom of the base area.
