1. Beaver Creek’s Thursday Night Lights takes place weekly through February 25. This is a family-friendly glow-stick parade-on-skis down Beaver Creek Mountain. Participant skiers must be at least intermediate-level skiers. A fireworks display follows the ski down. Free.
2. Vail. Free Gondola Rides for foot passengers from 2 to 9pm Tuesday through Saturday in LionsHead to the top of Vail Mountain at Eagle’s Nest. Activities and restaurants at the top.
3. Beaver Creek. Free Gondola ride from Beaver Creek Landing to the Westin Riverfront in Avon.
4. Vail. Ski and snowboard competitions free to viewers throughout the winter. Includes the World Pond Skimming Championships in Vail and the US World Cup competition in Beaver Creek.
5. Vail. Join a naturalist for a complimentary hour-long snowshoe tour through Vail’s mountaintop forest. Identify tracks, learn about winter adaptations and revel in the snowy landscape. Daily 11am and 3pm through April.
6. Vail. Bud Light Street Beats is a free outdoor concert held on Wednesdays at 6pm in Vail Village January 13; February 24; March 10, 18, 24 and 31; and April 7 and 14.
7. Vail. American Ski Classic annual celebrity/pro-am racing event March 18-21 at Golden Peak. Viewing is free and open to ski racing enthusiasts.
8. Beaver Creek. Free Chocolate Chip Cookies distributed after skiing. When you finish that last run, take a look around at the bottom of Centennial on the deck for the chefs with trays of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Free.
9. Beaver Creek. Snowshoe up Dally on Beaver Creek Mountain. Trek up as far as your training allows. The views are stunning. Free.
10. Beaver Creek. Free Mountain Tour for skiers and snowboarders. Meet daily at the top of the Centennial Ski Lift for a tour of Beaver Creek mountain and the surrounding views. Free.
