Snow is in the air here in the Vail Valley. The leaves have been shrugged from the trees and you can just feel autumn giving way to winter. I am looking forward to the ski season and all the fun that comes along with it. The first big exciting event of winter besides opening day is of course, Vail’s traditional kick-off party Snow Daze. This year Snow Daze runs from December 7-13 and offers lots of things for idle hands to do.
The Vail SnowDaze Kick-Off Party is the “biggest early-season party in North America”. This is the official opening-day party which means it marks the opening of all of Vail’s Seven killer back bowls as well as the dreamy Blue Sky Basin. Needless to say weather permitting this is always an EPIC day!
Throughout the week there are a bunch of amusing events including
All-Mountain camera phone photography and film contest. I have no idea what this is, maybe photos from cell phones or ski/snowboard Indy films-again I have no idea but if I see anything posted I will update this blog.
A Snowball Eating Contest- It makes me happy that this contest takes place very early in the winter.
Free Ski & Snowboard demos and expo village- I love this one you can see all the cool gear and decks for the upcoming year.
Snuggie Pub Crawl-who doesn’t love a good old fashioned pub crawl!
“Beat the Olympian” Ski Race- Well of course, this all depends on which “Olympian” it is.
There are also free concerts and the Headliners are Barenaked Ladies.
