VAIL FIRE CREWS PREPARE FOR SLASH BURNING

As a result of the cool temperatures and the recent snowfall, crews from the Vail Fire and Emergency Services Department are preparing to begin burning slash piles in the Vail Golf Course neighborhood this week. The burning could begin as early as today and will continue for the next few weeks as weather conditions permit. The slash will be burned from a pit area at the east end of the golf course along Gore Creek west of Aspen Lane. The operations will take place from 9 a.m. to dusk.

During the burning, smoke and flames may be visible and some smoke may settle during the evening hours. People with respiratory problems are advised to stay indoors or avoid the area.

Additional burns will be taking place throughout the community over the next few months, where numerous slash piles remain from large-scale cutting efforts completed over the past two years.
