When you want to get outside and enjoy the summer nights at 8,150 feet, take a picnic to the Ford Amphitheater in Vail, Colorado. Those Tuesday evening concerts on the lawn with the Gore Range Mountains as a backdrop are a sweet part of the summer season in the Vail Valley. On July 28, The New Mastersounds are a four-piece British band whose modern take on vintage soul-jazz, funk and rock draws influences from Jimmies McGriff, Smith and Hendrix, as well as their mentors, The Meters. They have earned global recognition as a key band in the ‘New Funk’ scene, but purists beware, their unique blend of sounds doesn’t fit neatly into any one genre. The New Mastersounds deliver gritty grooves and deep rhythms, their live shows getting you up dancing and hold you there. They come to Vail Tuesday, July 28 at 6:30pm for Vail’s Hot Summer Nights concert series.

I have actually listened to this band, as my roommate went to London last year and got hooked on them. They’re great performers and put on an amazing concert. A fun very time
