In light of the economic times, Bravo has amped up its free music education programs and performances. Over 40 free public performances are scheduled at libraries, churches, parks, and the hospital.

The National Repertory Orchestra will perform a free family concert July 16 at the Ford Amphitheater. There will be several Performance Preludes and pre-concert discussions.

The youth education programs remain strong with the Instrument Petting Zoo, a traveling exhibit that gives kids hands-on experience with instruments, and the Young Composers Project, a program that teaches children how to compose music and hear it performed by members of the New York Philharmonic. Eight-year-old Elizabeth Consiten participated in last year’s Young Composers Project and is eager to participate again. “It was awesome,” said Consiten.
