DALLAS SYMPHONY RETURNS TO BRAVO! VAIL VALLEY MUSIC FESTIVAL

2009 RESIDENT ORCHESTRA WITH SIX PERFORMANCES June 30-July 9, 2009

This residency marks the return of the Dallas, last performing in Vail during the 2006 season.  July 1, 2009 will be the opening performance of the DSO, with concerts continuing on July 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th. The Dallas Symphony will join The Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic as resident orchestras along with more than 50 soloists, ensembles and chamber musicians performing at the Festival.

The summer 2009 will be the 22nd anniversary for the Bravo! Festival and the 108th anniversary for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

“The Dallas residency in Vail not only substantiates the artistic level of the Festival, but it will also bring to Colorado the greatest variety of orchestral music in one summer venue.  With Jaap van Zweden as the new Music Director for the orchestra, the Dallas Symphony Orchetra will enchant our audiences, and I am looking forward with enormous excitement to working with Maestro van Zweden, the administration, and the entire orchestra,” says Festival Artistic Director Eugenia Zukerman.

“The Bravo! Valley Vail Music Festival has one of the most prominent reputations in the country, and I look forward to leading our orchestra in three performances there,” says DSO Music Director Jaap van Zweden. The Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival is the only festival to host three world-class orchestras in residence.

The Festival runs from late June to early August. During these summer months, it touches thousands of people, many who come just to experience its pleasures and the majestic Rocky Mountains.
