On Wednesday, Jan. 21, Vail Symposium presents Ukraine at a Tipping Point. It’s part of their Active Minds with John Dunlavy.
Seventy years of Soviet control of Ukraine ended in 1991 with the collapse of the Soviet Union. During that time Ukraine suffered extensive famines, deportation of citizens, and repopulation of its country by ethnic Russians. Since its independence, Ukraine has aligned more with the west, resulting in escalating tension between ethnic Russians and Ukrainians. Recently Russian president Medvedev warned ominously of “serious consequences” if Ukraine joins NATO. Active Minds® explores this delicate situation.

Singletree Community Center in Edwards at 5:30pm.
