Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek presents: Arlo Guthrie in Concert

Arlo Guthrie’s Lost World Tour               April 11, 2009

Though Guthrie’s definitive rendition of Steve Goodman’s “City of New Orleans” may have been his only hit song in the traditional sense, he has nevertheless achieved international renown. The 18-minute, 20-second “Alice’s Restaurant,” while too long for radio airplay, is an American classic. The song “Coming into Los Angeles,” though banned from many radio stations when first released, had become a favorite by the time he played it at the 1969 Woodstock Festival, and remains a favorite today.

Guthrie’s Lost World Tour, which features his son Abe Guthrie, as well as the Burns Sisters, follows Guthrie’s first album in 12 years. Lost World was released in October 2008. This new material continues where Guthrie left off in 1996 with Mystic Journey.
