“‘Tango Fire’ blazes with danger and exuberance” - The Boston Globe
Take the sensual chemistry of Tango, danced by five accomplished couples; the passionate music of Astor Piazzolla, played to perfection by live musicians; and the striking voice of Javier ‘Cardenal’ Dominguez, and you have “Tango Fire,” Argentina’s hottest dance export.
Born in Buenos Aires 150 years ago, the Tango went through a major Renaissance in the early 1980s. Its style and focus have shifted, but the Tango has remained the most passionate and emotive dance in the world. “Tango Fire” explores the history of Tango with intimate duets and blazing group dances. The live accompaniment by Quatrotango and Dominguez is unparalleled and weaves together the technical brilliance and eagerness of the dance.
Under the choreographic direction of Yanina Fajar, “Tango Fire” opens with a demonstration of Milonga, the dance of the people, where the Tango got its start. The evening progresses into modern Tango, epitomized by the timeless compositions of the legendary Astor Piazzolla and aggressive, daring lifts that are always audience pleasers.
