Asian Policy Challenges for President Obama
America’s influence in Asia is in relative decline. The incoming Obama administration will face a world being reshaped at warp speed by the rise of Asia. Dr. Jamie Metzl will explore the greatest challenges facing U.S. policy towards Asia and lay out a strategy for how America can do far more to articulate a positive vision for the region’s future.
Jamie Metzl is an Asia expert and Executive Vice President of the international NGO Asia Society. He has served as Deputy Staff Director of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee under Senator Joe Biden, Senior Coordinator for International Public Information at the Department of State, and Director for Multilateral and Humanitarian Affairs on the White House National Security Council.
