Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek presents:Irvin Mayfield & New Orleans Jazz Orchestra

Irvin Mayfield & the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra perform at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek, Colorado on January 19, 2009

The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra was founded in 2002 by Irvin Mayfield, the Grammy nominated and Billboard Award-winning trumpeter and composer. Bringing together the forces of New Orleans’ unique international reputation, the Orchestra has built a new model of Cajun jazz.

Born in New Orleans, Mayfield quickly established himself. He is a versatile trumpeter, bandleader, composer and arranger, recording artist and passionate spokesman for the rich history and cultural significance of jazz and the city that birthed it. In 2003, Mayfield was appointed the Cultural Ambassador of the City of New Orleans by the United States government.

Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra made history on November 17, 2005, just after Hurricane Katrina, when they symbolically reopened the city of New Orleans with All the Saints At Christ Church Cathedral.
