Jeep, Hummer, ATV Tours Vail Valley

Get out and enjoy the scenery of the White River National Forest with a guided Hummer or Jeep Tour or rent your own easy-to-ride all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and drive yourself. The Vail Valley sits between four mountain ranges, so guided tours reflect a variety of elevations and scenery including striking high alpine tundra, lakes, meadows and forests. Most guided tours include stops to touch and feel the scenery around you plus educational discussions and tips about local wildlife and vegetation. Your tour guide will also most likely point out the area’s geology and explain its history.

Explore the Rocky Mountain region aboard a motorized vehicle. Whether it’s a Jeep, a Hummer or an ATV, there’s something to be said for riding off into the Rocky Mountains aboard a powerful 4-wheel vehicle. Jeeps typically allow for 4 passengers, and usually feature open tops; they are steel-reinforced, and knowledgeable guides navigate them through the off-trail terrain you will explore. Hummers can fit up to six passengers and have a wider wheel base. Both vehicles allow passengers to sit back, enjoy the scenery, flora and fauna, all while learning about the vistas and history of the area from a knowledgeable guide. This is a great alternative to hiking or biking, as it allows a laid-back, exertion-free approach to seeing all that the Rocky Mountains have to offer. ATVs are a more involved way to explore 4-Wheel-Drive trails. ATVs are made to ride anywhere in mountains, flatlands, sand dunes, rocky, muddy, rooty and sandy roads. But most riders find ATVs most useful in mountainous terrain because almost no other vehicle can ride through such terrain with the same dexterity. The rider sits on and operates these vehicles like a motorcycle, but the extra wheels give more stability at slow speeds, allowing more advanced operators to explore the landscape. Though no prior ATV experience is typically required, riders should feel comfortable navigating a powerful, motorcycle-like vehicle prior to hitting the trail on an ATV. See “What to Wear – What to Bring”
