Vail Valley Swimming
Swimming is a year-round sport in the Vail Valley. Whether it’s at the Avon Recreation Center’s large pool and water facility, in a resort pools around town or in a swimming hole in the river, there are many ways to get in the water around the Vail’s high country. The Avon Recreation Center has it all. For beginners, contact them for times and availability of lessons. For more advanced swimmers, lap lanes are available. Recreational swimmers can check out the slides and other fun in the indoor water park. Many hotels and condo properties around town also have pools and hot tubs onsite, so check prior to arrival and make sure you bring your suit! Depending on the time of year and the river levels, there are areas where a quick dip in a water hole can be the refreshing end to a day on the hiking trail. Make sure you are a very strong swimmer and river savvy. The river is no place to swim if you aren’t sure what you are doing.
