The Vail Nordic Center celebrated its 25th year last season and owner Mia Stockdale is looking forward to another great season. Stockdale, who co-owns the Nordic Center with Shane Sluder, says the track will open when conditions permit and will offer 17 kilometers of groomed ski trails and 10 kilometers of seperate snoshoe trails. “The early season snow we’ve received is beneficial and the forecast looks great for an early opening of the track this year,” said Stockdale. ”Last season was tremendous and we’re looking forward to serving our local and guest skiers and snowshoers for another great season. This is our third season of operating the Nordic Center and each year we’ve seen tremendous growth in the Nordic community throughout the Vail Valley.”

New this year, the Vail Recreation District (VRD), who maintains the trail system for Stockdale and Sluder, purchased a new snowcat that will improve the quality of the groomed trails. ”We continue to work with the VRD to provide some of the best Nordic skiing in Colorado,” said Stockdale.

Additionally, Happy Valley Grill at the Vail Golf Club will be providing the Nordic Center with homemade soups and cookies to be sold daily. They also are available for private party buyouts and rentals this winter. Contact owner Marc DesRosiers at 479-7321 for further details.
